Inspired by London’s Brutalist heritage, ThamesHaus explores the possibilities of off-grid micro living by repurposing abandoned piers along River Thames.

The semi-detached floating house rises according to the tide times of the day, and is anchored by the concrete plinths and foundation. Each house consists of two one-bedroom flats, which is under 25 square metres.

The floorplans of the two flats are mirrored, making prefabrication much simpler. Its vertical hierarchy also separates the active (kitchen and bathroom) and quiet (bedroom) spaces, making the micro living experience more enjoyable. Moreover, the CLT structure gives both the exterior and interior spaces a warm and exposed finish.
