Céleste Canard sits on Millbank with panoramic views of the Thames, a fine dining restaurant where classical French gastronomy is reimagined through Chinese culinary philosophy. The name translates as Celestial Duck, honouring a bird that carries meaning in both cultures: a symbol of joy and prosperity in China, and a cornerstone of French cooking.
The restaurant's interior design follows the menu's logic of cross-cultural exchange, holding French elegance against the richer aesthetics of the East. The story unfolds across two levels in London, each built as its own spatial and sensory experience.
On the ground floor, Le Comptoir Doré is an intimate, cinematic bar in modern chinoiserie, drawing on the lacquered treasures of the Silk Road and the gold of prosperity. Rare spirits and cocktails that tell stories of both heritages are served over a gilded counter.
Upstairs, the celestial dining room answers the riverside setting with theatrical grandeur. Designed to mirror the cooking, where French technique meets Sichuan aromatics and soy, it holds East and West in the same room without letting either win.
